Edna Lopez Avila
I am a Finance Ph.D. candidate at the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto, specializing in empirical asset pricing with a focus on information economics, behavioral finance, derivatives, and investment strategies. My research focuses on social media and examines how it impacts the investment decisions of investors. My JMP examines how social media influences retail investors' investment decisions in the option markets
I also hold a M.Sc. degree in Financial Economics from Columbia University, as well as a B.Sc. degree in Applied Mathematics and Actuarial Sciences, from U.N.A.M. (Mexico). For six years, I worked as a quantitative researcher and trader at the central bank.
I will be in the 2024-2025 academic job market.
